I have decided to get in better shape so I can enjoy the summer months when they get here. I know it is a little bit early but last year I made the mistake of trying to lose all my winter pounds when it was already just a couple of weeks away from bikini season. Needless to say, that did not go over too well. I had a lot of fun at the beach but I would have enjoyed it a lot more if I had been a little bit leaner and sexier. You get the idea.
One of the first programs I looked into was Crossfit. I have a few friends that do that type of workout and I sat in on one of their sessions. I thought the intensity and camaraderie were pretty cool, but it just didn’t seem like the right program for me. I wanted something I could do on my own without my sweaty peers cheering me on. And I am not sure what to think of doing Olympic lifts as a form of conditioning. It just seems like it would make one more likely to get injured (just my opinion).
I started searching for online training programs that would help me reach my goal (a bikini-ready body). I found this blog post comparing Kayla Itsines and Jen Ferruggia and I thought it was a pretty good article. I did a good bit of research and decided to try Jen’s program. It was less expensive and money was tight at the time (still is).
So far it is going well. I am lifting weights in such a way as to maximize fat loss. More importantly, I’m learning of some simple things I can do to keep my diet in order. I’m learning that planning my meals is actually more important than planning my workout (who would have guessed).
I know I will reach my goal of having a lean, sexy body this year (complete with a flat stomach and firm booty). I have a good plan and I have the determination to make it happen. You can do it, too–just start early enough to see whatever results you want to achieve.
Five months later: the Bikini Body workouts program has been awesome!
